When and where will these Lent Groups be meeting?
Groups will be formed to meet in the weeks beginning
10, 17, 24 February & 2, 9 March
On various weekday evenings at 7:30 for coffee, to start at 8:00, finishing by 9:30.
Or during the daytime – at times to be arranged.
In a number of homes, or at the Church Centre.
(Life Groups will not take place during Lent.)

How can I join a Lent Group?
By writing your name on the Lent Group Notice at the back of the church by the end of January. Or if this is a problem email Peter LeRoy. You will then be asked by one of the organisers which group you would like to join. If you are a member of a Life Group, you will already have discussed whether or not you wish to become a Lent Group.

What if I am not sure if I can attend every week or am a bit uncertain about group discussion?
You’ll be welcome to join a group even if you can’t get to every session.
Even if you prefer to sit quietly and listen while others contribute, do still join a group.
Do sign on and try it out. No one will mind if you don’t continue to attend.
You won’t be expected to join a Life Group in the summer term, but will be welcome to do so.
It would help to telephone your hosts in advance if you find that you can’t make a particular meeting.

Do I need to do any preparation?
Prepare generally by getting the flavour of Matthew 5:1-20. This contains the so-called “upside-down” teaching and promises given by Jesus in the Beatitudes. It is the basis for the rest of the Sermon on the Mount.
The five weekly studies are outlined here.
Information sheets with a suggested pattern for each session and questions to consider will be given to each group leader.
Please keep your leaflet for weekly reference and bring it with a Bible to your group. There is no need for any more preparation.

Relevant books worth considering are:
Christian Counter Culture –
The Message of the Sermon on the Mount - John Stott (IVP);
Matthew for Everyone - Tom Wright (SPCK);
Matthew - Michael Green (IVP);
Matthew - John Proctor (BRF).
